This exam offers the
ideal method of measuring what you have learnt. This exam is different to most
others in that it involves very little studying. Most examinations are intended
to find out what the candidate knows and understands about the subject; some
try to find out what the candidate can do.
This examination is somewhat different in that it aims to find out what a
candidate has gained from the Young Enterprise experience. It is, therefore,
not really possible for candidates to revise for the examination, as it
requires little or no book learning.
The examination has developed into the 'Case Study and Question Paper' format to
enable candidates to demonstrate the skills they have acquired during their
Young Enterprise experience. Using the Case Study, candidates should be able to
relate their own experiences to those of another company, and thus to effect
comparisons and offer advice in response to the examination questions.
The examiners are interested in the methods the students decide to adopt to
overcome these obstacles. It is this expression of their understanding which is
rewarded in the marking.
A case study outlining the ups and downs of a typical YE company, is handed out
to all registered candidates before the examination date. The exam is set in,
and answers are required to be submitted in the English language. The Exam is
conducted and awarded by the University of Cambridge International Examinations
(CIE) and the final certificate awarded has the equivalent of an 'O' Level. The
exam fee is LM 15:00.
