for the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe online European Challenge
2005 (EC 2005) and see how effective you are at managing a corporation and at
promoting products your corporation manufactures and sells. Students will
assume the roles of corporate managers and make weekly decisions on price,
production, marketing, research & development, and plant capacity. They
will analyze industry reports, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and
market conditions before making their decisions and submitting a weekly
response.
Participants are to form teams of 2-30 students and will compete online with
other teams from across Europe. Two members are to be assigned by each team to
represent the team in communication with the administrator of the Contest and
to represent the team in the Final Round. Teams will be divided into
competitive groups of eight teams and will be relocated into other groups in
subsequent rounds.
The competition is divided into three rounds. In round one teams will take
decisions relative to the hypothetical manufacturing of EchoPens whereas in
round two teams take decisions with respect to the manufacture of
ConcertMasters. All teams participate in both rounds. Decisions will be due
once per week in the initial periods of Round One, and TWICE per week during
the remaining periods of Round One and all Round Two.
The Final Round will bring together, on-line, the top sixteen teams of the
combined rounds. The 16 finalists will consist of 12 teams from the Experts
Division, 2 teams from the Beginners Division, and 2 teams of Alumni Division.
Company Program Achievers will compete in the Beginners Division. Final round
will be organized as a one-day real-time on-line competition. Cash prizes will
be awarded to the top three teams!

Teams participating in the European Challenge 2005 may also compete in the
advertising and essay contests.
Best Overall EC 2005 Team Contest
The top 16 of teams of each of the European Challenge, the Advertising
contest and the Essay contest will be short-listed for the Best Overall EC 2005
Team Contest. Scores obtained by such teams from each of the European
Challenge, the Advertising contest and the Essay Contest will be carried
forward and used for determining the winner of the Best Overall EC 2005 Team
Contest according to the Evaluation Criteria. The Contest Administrator
reserves the right NOT to award the first place prize if the team with the
highest composite score has not participated in each contest of EC 2005. Cash
prizes will be awarded to the top three teams!
